LOS ANGELES, CA (October 14, 2014) – Los Angeles-based independent
record label SideOneDummy Records is stoked to announce the official launch
of The Basement, a 24/7 radio channel on DASH Radio, a new internet-radio
platform for Apple iOS and mobile web created by DJ Skee. Starting today, fans
can enjoy around-the-clock alternative programming curated by the same people
who released influential records from bands like The Gaslight Anthem, Flogging
Molly, Title Fight, Gogol Bordello, PUP and more. In addition, The Basement will
feature several weekly specialty programs hosted by members of
SideOneDummy’s staff. The DASH Radio app is free to download for Apple
users and can also be accessed via mobile web.
The relationship with SideOneDummy and DJ Skee was a natural one given that
the two offices are located directly next to each other in Hollywood, CA! After
years of being neighbors, the two successful businesses found the perfect way
to combine forces with DASH Radio. SideOneDummy co-founder Joe Sib is
happy to finally be working with his longtime neighbor DJ Skee, who recently
appeared as a guest on the SideOneDummy Storytellers show, a monthly
performance held at the label’s office featuring musicians and comedians alike
sharing stories on given themes.
Not unlike SideOneDummy’s current roster, the programming on The Basement
will range from old classics to new favorites with a heavy emphasis on discovery.
“We really want to showcase some new bands that we’re all stoked on here at
the office and The Basement is the perfect way to do that,” explains Sib.
And starting next week, The Basement will also feature specialty programs from
some of SideOneDummy’s staff. Each day will kick off with a morning show
hosted by Joe Sib called Mornings In The Basement (airing daily from 10AM-
12PM ET), which is familiar territory for the label co-owner who used to host
mornings for KSJO in San Jose, CA. “My show is basically me with a
microphone, a cup of coffee and all of the music I love to listen to,” explains Sib.
Other weekly shows include SideOneDummy production manager Christina
Johns and audio/video engineer Matt Baldwin’s indie-emphasized Let’s Talk
About Feelings (airing Wednesdays from 8-11PM ET), publicist Jamie Coletta’s
pop-punk program No Earbuds (airing Thursdays from 8-11PM ET) and many
more to come.
