A company named TufAmerica has Jay Z caught in a lawsuit over the use of the word “oh.” The word is used on the Jay Z song “Run This Town” where the rapper sampled the one-syllable word. The company has alleged that the sample is from an older recording titled “Hook & Sling Part 1.” While the judge Lewis Kaplan believes that “oh” does not deserve copyright protection since it is a common word, he still has to rule whether or not the sample that Jay Z used in “Run This Town” sounds similar to “Hook & Sling Part 1.” You can read more over at Billboard.
